I was connecting with the TP-LINK 407T+ Load Balancer, but it performed poorly. I removed it and switched to an onboard adapter plus a network card for a second internet connection for OBS. Now everything feels unstable. Everything worked fine before, but I’m experiencing lag during CS. I’m unsure how to verify my internet stability.

Your physical position affects connection speed and latency significantly. Wireless links versus wired ones matter a lot, particularly if you're in a busy wireless zone with interference. Factors include computer programs running on your device and other devices on your local network. Additionally, the ISP's technology varies by location—like CenturyLink providing fiber in some areas and DSL in others.

Connecting to your ISP often provides a quick and reliable link, but if the path needs changes to finish a connection it might introduce extra delays. Inspect your network and verify that no service is consuming excessive bandwidth. Since I’m not an expert in networking, I can’t offer a perfectly precise solution.

Checked with a friend who has the same connection issues; we both use the same internet service for over a decade. It’s usually stable, but in the last few days it’s been really slow and unreliable. They say it’s fine, but I’m wondering if there might be an issue with their servers or network. How can I verify if my own internet is functioning properly?

I haven’t used it anymore. I tried various ports and set it up with load balancing across two lines. Now only modems are working again, which might be a Valve problem or an issue with our connection. Thanks for your help.

I faced the same issue, it turned out to be a bandwidth problem. After upgrading to optical fiber, everything returned to normal. I previously had ADSL.

You returned to the onboard adapter. It seems you need a modem, probably the issue was there. I've dealt with this before.

What are your thoughts on the speed test site's location shift? Would it affect anything? The main factor is likely the IP address used.
