Hello everyone, I'm using a 7800X3D with a Noctua NH-D15 Chromax Black. I recently had the boards repasted (thinking it might not have been done right, but it actually was due to a recent Adblocks issue) and everything was working fine at around 30°C idle. After Blizzard released an update, temperatures jumped to 81°C even without any background tasks running. The Battle.net launcher was consuming about 56% of my CPU usage. During gameplay, I haven't seen such high spikes. Any suggestions on what might be causing this? It only happens during downloads or installs. I have four M.2 SSDs of different sizes, running Windows 11 with performance fan curves on the NZXT board. All fans are Be Quiet! Light wings (120mm and 140mm) and the CPU fans are the standard 140mm ones plus a basement fan with H5 Flow. The GPU temps remain normal (RTX 2070), and I'm planning an upgrade soon—want to address CPU temperatures before they get too hot.

Downloading is commonly a major activity, which makes sense given the size of the files involved.

Requires a very high-speed internet connection. That's typical in that situation. The process involves downloading, decompressing files, and checking their integrity. The quicker the internet, the greater the CPU demand. It becomes extremely demanding when a local cache is present and you have a 10Gbps or higher connection, especially if the cache is sufficiently fast to fill it.

I upgraded from an i5 8400 to an i5 12400 and was surprised by the significant speed boost in downloading files using the same internet connection and SSD.

It operates at roughly 900mb/s without any issues before!

I increased my internet speed from 400 mbps to 900 and swapped the i5 4690 for the 7800X3D at the same time, yet Steam downloads still don’t consume much CPU... curious.
