Battlefront & 4460
the 860K struggles to power a GTX 970 in these titles, far from it...watch a clip where the player runs Battlefield Hardline at 1080p using the HD7870, which is significantly weaker than a GTX970. Despite this, his GPU stays around 65-70% usage, and FPS drops into the low 30s. The CPU remains heavily loaded across the board. This explains why his GPU is only operating at 58c, with nearly half idle and doing nothing.
It seems the 960 has decent DX11 support, but what’s clear is the focus should be on what each model offers. The 860K might not be the weakest CPU tested, and the i5-4440 paired with a top GPU can boost performance significantly over the FX-8350 without Mantle. That’s what’s catching my attention right now.
860K enables you to enjoy MAX performance at 1080p resolution, though frame rates won’t reach the highest levels. It’s definitely usable!
As long as the game runs at 30 frames per second, it works for you!
Are you trying to provoke a reaction? Look at the green line showing the lowest FPS below 30 in many games—yes, it drops significantly at low frame rates, and often the blue line is right at 30 FPS or slightly higher.
Just tried Battlefront, stayed above 61 FPS consistently (reached max). CPU usage hovered near 65%, GPU around 98%. Smooth performance with about 71 FPS on average. Required roughly 2.5GB VRAM and 6.5GB RAM (far below the suggested 16GB, probably EA’s decision).
