Battlefield V Ray Tracing issues with stuttering on RTX 2060
Whenever I activate ray tracing and DLSS, the game begins to lag inconsistently, and I'm puzzled as to the reason. My display is 1920x1080 at a refresh rate of 60Hz, so I’m not expecting high performance from my graphics card, and a frame rate above 60 fps isn’t a priority. However, this behavior is incredibly frustrating. Here are my system details:
ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer
HyperX Beast 2x8GB DDR3-2400 MHz
Intel i7 4790K
KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060 OC
Fractal Tesla R2 650W
120GB SSD ( Windows 10 )
480GB SSD ( Battlefield V )
1TB HDD
In reality, that’s somewhat incorrect. Quite the contrary should be the case. DLSS doesn't enhance picture quality; instead, it diminishes it to boost speed. Currently implemented, it’s a fairly average technique for increasing resolution from a smaller one to raise frame rates. Furthermore, it isn’t particularly effective in this regard. Studies suggest that decreasing the rendering resolution within Battlefield V and utilizing its inherent upscaling system would yield superior visuals and/or performance compared to using DLSS...
I haven’t done it yet, but I plan to attempt it again tomorrow and will inform you of the outcome.
I attempted to play without utilizing DLSS, and it appears to be functioning satisfactorily; therefore, I believe that was the root cause. Thank you for your assistance!
Ultimately, DLSS offers a lighter approach to anti-aliasing (AA), though AA generally decreases frame rates by examining each frame repeatedly. Combining ray tracing—which also diminishes performance—with DLSS results in the most significant slowdown, and an RTX 2060 lacks the processing power to handle both simultaneously.
