BF1 is happening today... Few WW1 FPS titles exist, making BF1 stand out more to me

It's not always about choosing just one option… These games, especially in earlier versions, each have their own unique style. They don’t fit neatly into simple comparisons the internet likes to make. I usually pick Battlefield only when I’m playing a multiplayer shooter, but if it hadn’t existed, I wouldn’t automatically switch to Call of Duty. I still wouldn’t be interested in that kind of experience.

I've enjoyed both Battlefield and Call of Duty at various points in time. I played the original COD and its expansion quite regularly on PC. MW and MW2 were also enjoyable, though I tend to prefer WW1/WW2 settings. I've also played BF1942, the Desert Combat mod, and BF2 extensively. These two series have managed to balance broad appeal with some repetition. I believe COD has faced more challenges in this regard. BF3 and BF4 remain strong, especially BF4. The recent titles (like Advanced Warfare) don't live up to my expectations for the Infinite Warfare mode, which feels too generic for a sci-fi setting. While we can't see the full story yet, the trailer suggests progress has been made before. Titanfall, despite its shortcomings, seemed more compelling at the time. Battlefield 1 offers fresh content and highlights important historical moments often overlooked in education. I'm cautious about Hardline and Battlefront due to past disappointments, and it's hard for me to trust major publishers to innovate significantly. I haven't bought either game yet, so I haven't fully backed either company. Still, I'm excited to try the Battlefield 1 Open Beta (Demo?) and see my reaction. Infinite Warfare will likely be skipped entirely, similar to my experience with BO3 and Advanced Warfare.

COD used to bring a lot of excitement. Early on with my PS3, I played MW3 and BF3—each offered unique experiences. I enjoyed the wide variety and realistic feel of BF3, while MW3 was equally engaging. In my past, COD Elite let me clash with friends late Friday nights, turning it into a lively event. After that, games felt repetitive, but BF4 still stood out as a significant change from BF3. BF1 holds my preference.
