I don’t own the game, but I’m a big supporter of the old series and find this update intriguing because private servers used to exist in Battlefield, and they should have remained intact. The server browser during the launch phase was quite disappointing (I haven’t played it since then, so I’m unsure if things have improved), and when private servers were still available, they all seemed indistinct, lacking any unique characteristics. This made browsing the browser feel unremarkable and unengaging. I hope DICE has since improved the experience.

I’m curious about why DICE/EAA would only reintroduce private servers when their player base is significantly declining. If the intention was to attract players and gain community support (just my guess), shouldn’t this have been implemented earlier? It seems unlikely that removing the option would have served any purpose. Probably they aimed to boost revenue through server rentals, but if that was their main goal, making it easy to find custom servers with detailed settings wouldn’t have been a priority.
