Hi everyone, i was curious if anyone using an RTX card is playing battlefield 5 with ray tracing enabled. I tried it today and got around 80-90 FPS on a 1440p display with an RTX 2080. It felt pretty high compared to some reviews i saw on youtube, but maybe the cards are simply better than what people have made. If you're playing bf5, please let me know your actual fps with ray tracing on.

I own an RTX 2070 that hasn't been placed in a PC case yet. I haven't tested Battlefield 5 with ray tracing yet, but I'm hoping to achieve solid FPS.

DICE has made significant changes to the ray tracing implementation in BFV, and performance has noticeably improved over the last couple of months.

Yeah, it's because the benchmarks came before some major improvements from EA, which means your FPS is normal. I can't demonstrate it since my GPU is a 1070 Ti.

without ray tracing I've maintained around 100-140 fps (varies with the map) on ultra settings.

DXR was artificially restricted on RTX cards. I remember from BFV Beta that people discovered you could turn on the "DXR preview" via the console, which closely matched the ultra mode we have in the release with its advanced reflections. It worked on most cards, including Maxwell and Pascal, though it did incur a noticeable performance cost. The 1080 Ti, for example, could handle 1080p at 60fps in ultra settings with DXR. This is because BFV DXR doesn’t actually rely on RT Cores—it uses shaders based on the TITAN V reference, which is why only Tensor Cores are being used alongside the older CUDA Cores. The ray tracing implementation in 2018 was a complete failure, but we should look at what emerged in 2019 with the improved technology and available hardware.
