You might purchase an 880k brand new in 2016 for its reliability, modern features, and strong resale value. It offers a balance between performance and affordability, making it a practical choice for everyday use.

The protective layer on a coil in my power supply became hard and broke, leading to overheating and crashes. The new PSU won't arrive for about a week.

It seems the performance is either limited by a bottleneck or a driver problem. Think about reinstalling. At 1080p with medium settings, it averages 460 frames per second. At 1440p medium, it should exceed 42 fps. Both numbers are significantly lower than what you're stating. https://uk.hardware.info/reviews/7020/4/...frametimes

The 880K was the sole CPU option that fit my budget without requiring an R7 250 GPU. UK pricing seems unusual, particularly for RAM. Argonne forest runs smoothly at 60 fps on a 64-man server, along with a few others (though I can't recall their names). A few are just extremely difficult to play. This suggests the game may need some improvements and additional driver updates.

I've experienced minimal problems with BF1. It ran very smoothly, though my hardware is superior. You might need to wait and trust DICE to resolve the issues. Consider sharing your experience on the EA forums; they may request a Dxdiag log for review.
