It's not that impressive, but your 4690k can handle the game smoothly at 70-90 FPS with ultra settings enabled. I tried turning off DirectX 12 in the settings—it helped me too. Your R9 280 performs similarly to a GTX 960, giving you around 70-90 FPS without any visual issues, so you should see comparable results (just slightly lower).

The CPU performance from the beta offers a much clearer picture than the launch figures. They're a bit surprising... Google has been actively discussing this lately. (filtered results) For BF1 CPU consumption, many are puzzled... 85-100% across all cores even on BeastRigs, while SP shows 60-70% which feels typical. Usually the CPU doesn't hit 100%, and GPU usage stays within normal ranges—though that depends on the setup.
