I'm unsure why Batocera Linux seems to perform worse compared to EPSXE and PCSX2. I noticed it struggles with running games on my Raspberry Pi 3, especially when contrasted with my laptop specs. However, it does run God of War better than those emulators I tested, despite the low FPS and slow performance. Could you share your thoughts or suggestions in the comments?
It might work well. The Raspberry Pi offers a strong GPU relative to its cost and size, while your laptop likely has a basic integrated GPU. It’s possible it runs faster or the emulator is more efficient using it compared to a less powerful Intel GPU.
Batocera Linux is a Distro not a Emulator. It's similiar to RetroPie or Lakka These use LibRetro for emulation. For PlayStation 1 Emulation, they are probably using the Beetle PSX core The Beetle PSX core is compatible with Android, Linux, and Windows, and utilizes the Vulkan API. If you would like to try it as a standalone application, RetroArch is a graphical front-end for libretro. There is a chance that it may perform better under Linux, but I couldn't answer that. Most emulators use OpenGL or DirectX, so Vulkan is probably where most of the performance improvements are if any.
