You’ll need to set up both routers manually. Connect the AP router’s WAN port to the main router’s LAN port, then switch the AP router to AP mode. The main router will auto-configure, but you’ll still need to change the SSID and password on the AP router as needed.

It varies based on the router's AP mode setup. For instance, with the Honor Router 3 you can only reach the UI via WiFi using the IP assigned by your main router. It can be frustrating since I usually manage all settings from a wired LAN. On the other hand, it’s surprisingly affordable for a WiFi 6 AP and works well.
