I understand the beginner concerns, but I assure you I’m familiar with the topic to some degree. I own a GA-Z170-HD3 board (LGA 1151) and was considering upgrading to an i7-9700K. According to Intel’s motherboard compatibility checker, there appears to be no LGA 1151 board that supports the 9700K processor. It seems the CPU and motherboard aren’t compatible. Still, I wanted to verify before making a purchase in case I can stick with my current setup. Thanks for your support!

It's possible but requires many BIOS updates. It's quite complex, so you'll likely need a Z370 or Z390 motherboard. I recommend the Z390 Aorus Elite.

In which universe these BIOS updates become tricky? Just see if the latest BIOS supports that motherboard and proceed—just do your research and you'll be fine.

We aren't discussing the standards bios update.
