Hello everyone, after updating my motherboard with the latest BIOS and applying the new baseline profile, I tested Cinebench 2024. Performance dropped noticeably—around 4-5% lower. On my ASUS Prime Z690 P D4 motherboard with an i7 12700K CPU, setting SVID to auto reduced performance nearly in half. I’m unsure if enabling the optimized defaults or using ASUS multicore enhancement in auto is safe, especially since similar issues affect i9 CPUs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as this situation is quite confusing. Thanks!

According to current information, there are no known issues with Alder Lake components. You can safely continue using the "Optimized Defaults" settings for your 12700K. If you're worried about heat, consider adjusting the power limit or undervolting your CPU.

ASUS seems to prefer sending too much voltage to the CPUs without any clear purpose.

I don’t have a specific custom profile, but I can suggest a chart showing typical power values. Let me know if you’d like one!

That is CEP, turn that off and the performance will go back up. For reference, CEP makes it so undervolting doesn't work correctly, so if the voltage is lower than the CPU's VID table, to drops performance like crazy. Auto settings is usually below the VID table, and the "Intel Failsafe" is usually way above the default VID table. There is a way to get it to run at the default VID table (I forget what the setting is called off the top of my head), though if your current system is working, I don't see the point in being concerned about the power limits or VID table on your current chip. Just load optimized defaults and you're fine.

I don't have extensive expertise in this area, but I recall some tech updates from the past for topics like this.
