Hello, I encountered another discussion earlier today regarding Saints Row 2. It seems my system occasionally experiences choppy performance at random moments, and I discovered my CPU is hitting near full utilization. I’m looking for a more powerful processor. My motherboard is an Asus P5KPL-AM SE, and the current chip is a 3Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo E8400. It uses Socket 775LGA. Based on the information from that site, it doesn’t officially support Xeon chips, and the high-end Core 2 Duo models are quite pricey on eBay for my budget. The best I can afford right now is a 3.3Ghz Core 2 Duo E600. Saints Row 2 requires a 3.2Ghz processor. A link was provided to a site suggesting a 3.2Ghz quad-core option, though one user mentioned it only supports up to 2.6Ghz. I’m curious—if it can handle one Xeon, could it support others? Any recommendations for the best possible processor that meets these needs would be appreciated.

Obtain the Q6600 and tune it to 3.0 GHz using the tape method. These units are affordable, though Saints Row 2 remains a well-optimized title that can still face challenges on today’s hardware.

Thanks for the video and your feedback about the game issue. My setup works well for most games—my system runs smoothly at 1440x900 on medium settings, achieving up to 250fps when all options are enabled. I’ll test a few more titles before deciding whether an upgrade is necessary. My current specs are: 3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, 500GB HDD, 4GB DDR2 RAM, ATI Radeon 4870, and 512MB of memory. Overall, it’s a solid configuration for its time, which explains the good performance I saw with Saints Row 2.
