hey guys,
i bought a z170a krait gaming motherboard from msi for €85 (openbox) and had an i5 6400 nearby. i downloaded the bclk oc bios and even tried overclocking to 101 mhz bclk, but my pc still won't let it go beyond 2.7 ghz. cpu-z says it's still at 2.7 ghz. i heard intel might have a microcode update in the new windows 10 updates—would downloading an older windows 7 version help?

It's doubtful the microcode update in Win 10 is a myth. A few months back I managed to down-rev my BIOS to one compatible with non-K OC and successfully overclocked my i3. What BIOS version did you install? How did you update it?

TJ Hooker clarifies that the microcode update in Win 10 might not be a myth. He shares his experience of down-revving his BIOS to one compatible with non-K OC and successfully overclocking his i3. He asks about the specific BIOS revision he used and how it was flashed, mentioning the forum link for reference.
