Barracuda 2TB HDD experiences disconnections and reconnections without clear cause.
I recently purchased a 2TB Barracuda 3.5" HDD and placed it on my PC with another HDD and two M.2 NVMe SSDs. For the initial week or two, everything worked fine, but now the drive intermittently loses power and disconnects, then reconnects. Windows reports removal events, and you can hear the motor struggle to maintain power. Your games or applications crash during this time, even after reconnecting, and they don’t recover. Testing tools show nothing unusual, so it doesn’t seem like a power supply issue either—even without anything on your desktop, the HDD still disconnects. I found only one line in HWinfo: “Number of High Priority Unload Events” with a count of 41. I’m unsure how to fix this situation. It appears the drive may have failed in RAID or AHCI mode. I checked cables and wattage, but it still disconnects when idle. My CPU is a Ryzen 5 3600, RAM includes two Patriot Viper modules (8GB each at 3200/3600), motherboard ASRock B450 Pro4 with BIOS P5.00, GPU is Sapphire Pulse RX570 (8GB), and the PSU is SilentiumPC Vero L2 600W.
Are the links safe? Switching to a recognized reliable cable might assist.
