SAM is a version of re-sizable BAR that AMD enhanced with additional features in the driver or card design, boosting performance slightly compared to Nvidia—typically around 10% on average. It was more of a later consideration on Nvidia cards, which helps explain the smaller performance gap.

I recently switched to an AMD Ryzen 9 and am planning to assemble a fully AMD build. I’ve been checking out the 6900X cards and several online reviews praise AMD’s performance. My main concern is managing heat—specifically, what temperatures should I expect when using an all-fan setup with a quiet 802 case. Thanks.

I share the same setup, using a 5900X and a 6900 XT with dual 360 rads water cooling. Stock temps are higher, but performance drops noticeably after overclocking and when power limits are turned off. On my machine it's around 60°C, though the Red Devil Ultimate has a much better cooler than the Gaming Z—consider what you expect. How do you feel about the pricing of the Gaming Z versus the Red Devil Ultimate or OC Formula? Both offer superior cooling and still deliver solid performance.

The ultimate version costs $1,200 CAD, while the gaming Z is $1,300 CAD in Canada. However, both are currently out of stock locally, and the prices online are significantly higher.

Interesting point. Given the price gap, both options seem reasonable. I’d still look into used cards, as they often offer great deals in the second-hand market.
