Bar width adjustable on Asus Mobo device
i'm trying to get resizable bar to work, but i don't know what else i'm missing. according to gpuZ, my bios resizable bar option is no enabled - - - - the resizable bar option is set to Auto - - - - there is no option for enable, only disabled and auto, so i chose auto - - - - it probably won't make much difference anyways, but it would nice to know why. thank you. What graphics card are you using? It could be that the device doesn't support it.
The 30 series NVIDIA actually has limited choices for resizable bars in the BIOS—only "Disabled" and "Auto"—and I’m surprised there isn’t an "Enabled" option available.
It's typical for my X570 Master to be "Disabled" and "Auto" works, especially with reBar (at least on my 6900XT). If the GPU's vBIOS is up to date, the issue might be a BIOS setting that needs adjusting. I've noticed this before, so updating or downgrading the BIOS could resolve it.
I haven't refreshed the BIOS since receiving this board. The dates on it suggest it's fairly up-to-date, so it should be okay. I might look for newer versions just to be safe, but I'm not sure it's necessary. Honestly, I prefer keeping the BIOS intact to avoid any issues with resizing the bar. It's not too complicated, but past experiences have made me cautious. Thanks!
Fair point, the Nvidia re-BAR update offers only around 3% gains at most. If it were an AMD build, I'd prefer more improvements, but right now it doesn't justify the effort.
6900xt is currently quite affordable, its value has dropped significantly, and I'm hoping it will stabilize before purchasing. Previously I relied on Intel and NVIDIA, but now I'm considering AMD as an alternative.
It's a really strong card, especially with power limits turned off and it pulling 400W. I've tried a 30 series setup, like the 3080, and it feels like an improvement, though I still miss DLS. Wattman's performance is okay but not great—if it weren't for how important low frequency is, I wouldn't install the full driver and would just use afterburner. Most 6900 series models tend to be noisy, so if you can hear it or don't use headphones, I'd steer clear.
It's not the fan speed that's the problem; it's the excessive coil whine from the card. Most 6900XTs suffer from this issue, often due to weak input filtering, which strains the inductors and creates noise. I have a PowerColor 6900XT Red Devil in good hands. The thermal performance is solid—core temps around 50-60°C, hot spots up to 90°C with minimal airflow. I’m considering water cooling, mainly because the cooler’s length pushes it slightly beyond the PCB end and clashes with my reservoir. My bench has been running for about a month, and it’s performing well despite the noise. The card is loud, but the GPU scores impressively—11265 in Time Spy Extreme when I disabled power limits and boosted the core clock.
