TLDNR: this is a work around, not a fix. Hold option key when you shutdown. The difference between a restart and a start is a star isn’t really a reboot. Hasn’t been for years. A restart is though. Means something or other is getting corrupted when the what is effectively a hybernation happens, but a reboot causes it to sort itself out again till it gets corrupted again. One possibility is to hold option while you shutdown. This actually makes the thing turn off so when you hit the start button next time it’s actually a real boot instead of just a pretend one.

Keep the key pressed while you press the button. That was the usual method. You can also use an .msc if needed.

1. Exchange the power cables.
2. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, try replacing the power supply; otherwise, the problem may lie with the motherboard’s capacitor or power regulators.
3. Consider swapping the motherboard or returning it for repair if possible. It seems the board’s capacitors or regulators are likely faulty.

The strange part is that a restart resolves the problem, but it reappears the next day after turning on the PC again. It looks like a software-related issue rather than a hardware one, not sure what to think.

Restarting is a minor solution gaining traction as a fresh start. If the hardware is failing, it may continue to malfunction when it freezes. It’s evident your PC isn’t receiving a stable power source.

I’m thinking about cables first, then PSU. Probably a hard drive. At least I’ll check. Are any of them over 85% full or causing errors in Crystaldiskmark? There are two SSDs and one HDD. I don’t know if the SSDs use NVMe or SATA. Would I need to reflash the BIOS? That’s mostly software work. If the BIOS gets reflashed, the OS can be cleaned and drivers updated, but the actual hardware remains.
