Bad RAM that causes underclocking is a common issue affecting performance.
Hello everyone, I searched the forum but didn’t find a solution to my problem. I’m experiencing instability on my PC, likely due to bad sectors in my RAM when using XMP overclocks—multiple blue screens and game crashes. My setup is two 16GB 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance RGB GPUs. Can I still overclock them slightly beyond stock speeds without hitting 3200, or should I consider replacing the RAM? Also, my current Ryzen 3700X is being upgraded to a 5800X3D, which I’ve heard doesn’t offer much gain from faster RAM.
I’d be sure to give it back if it’s still covered by warranty; otherwise, you can simply build a custom overclock profile with the desired speed.
If it doesn't perform well under the expected speed, I wouldn't rely on it.
It's clearly beyond the two-year guarantee. I might go with a standard Corsair Vengeance model since it offers a longer warranty if I can't achieve a reliable overclock.
If I were you, I’d probably run additional tests to check stability on slower clocks. If it works, I’d consider using it in a less demanding build later.
