Bad cpu or mobo?
Bad cpu or mobo?
Hi everyone. I just got a b450 tomahawk mobo from a friend and also purchased an amd ryzen 5 1400 on Facebook marketplace, which seems risky. However, everything is assembled and the power is working, but there’s nothing on the display. The ez-debug light turns red on the CPU and then stops after a few seconds. I’m wondering if the issue is with the mobo or the CPU.

When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it's important to provide complete system details. Please list your specifications in the following order:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
Include the age of the PSU along with its make and model. Also, mention the BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.
You might also try placing another known working processor in the socket, such as a Ryzen 2600, to test compatibility.
According to the link:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-TOM...upport#cpu
you should require at least BIOS version 7C02v10.
Use the Flash BIOS button on your motherboard, following the instructions on page 40 of your motherboard manual:
https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe...E-LITE.pdf
and check if this restores your system.
