Hey! Is there anyone who backs up their entire computer or all partitions using Google Drive? I tried adding it to the Google Drive app for Windows, but nothing seems to happen. When I try to add a whole partition as a folder to sync, it just sits there forever loading "D" and when I click Done, it never adds that folder to my list of synced items. Anyone else have figured out how to sync partitions with the new Google Drive app? Or should I look for other alternatives like Backup and Sync since I can't figure this out? I've tried CBackup too but it won't work if I log in with a Google Workspace account. Please don't recommend OneDrive or any other backup service because I already have unlimited storage on my institutional Google Drive account. Also, it worked fine before with the old Backup and Sync software, so why can't I make it work now?

Ah ok, I see. So the financial scope is changed, but the technical scope remains the same. Personally I would use a tool like Macrium Reflect to save the whole partion into a compressed file then have that file copied to Google Drive. The file can be used to restore the partition when needed.

Here is what I meant: if something happens again, just ask me again and I'll tell you exactly what to do.

If you add up all the monthly costs for Google Drive, it's way too pricey. You should just buy a solid hard drive from a trusted brand to make your backups.

I probably shouldn't have mentioned the whole computer thing. I just want to back up and keep my data in sync, like documents, music, pictures, etc. So I'm okay with being able to access that drive from anywhere, even if my old PC breaks down or I move it to a new one. I only wanted Google Drive to automatically add any folder I create so I don't have to do it manually every time. As I said before in my first post, I use a Google Workspace account with lots of storage because I'm part of an school that gives out free unlimited plans for students and teachers.

So instead of trying to name the whole 'partition', a few big top-level folders in it. Then underneath those are all your stuff, and when you create new folders they get added just like any other files. disclaimer: I don't use Google Drive, so my info might be totally wrong.
