I’m unable to start from my Windows drive, so I’ll need to reinstall. I want to back up my files without being able to boot into Windows. Since I only have a Mac now, I can’t run any troubleshooting tools.

I’d install a Linux distribution, create a bootable USB drive, and start it in live mode to access the system for mounting and transferring files.

Sure, that makes sense. I aimed to avoid manual file transfers given the large size of the backup.

Avoid storing all files on the C drive; create separate partitions for better organization.

Yeah. I also had another partition, but I just saved the games there.

You were heading in the right direction, at least. A lesson was learned.

They keep sending copies to another location, either individually or through programs. This highlights the need for regular backups since updates to file lists are minimal.

I intend to resume backing up again. The NAS has been down for some time, making the process a bit more challenging.
