I believed an NH-L9x65 offers superior cooling compared to the NH-L12. Particularly with a standard 25mm thick Noctua fan instead of the thinner 12mm version.

Noctua ranks the L12S much higher in performance than the L9x65, likely because of its bigger fan.

Surface area takes priority. The L12 offers significantly more cooling capacity compared to the L9x65, even with its thinner blades. Additionally, the fin stack arrangement provides superior airflow, ensuring clean circulation over and through the fins.

Really frustrating. The main issue is that the )12 doesn’t fit well on the ITX boards, especially since they’re only compatible with a top fan. Prices for the Z690 boards don’t really matter much. The ASRock models just collapse quickly because of insufficient rear I/O. Five USB ports aren’t enough for anyone. It’s not worth it to just add extra USB hubs when it takes up more space.
