Hey everyone, I'm planning to assemble a new PC next summer on a tight budget. I was thinking about getting it from scratch using only the latest components: a CPU like the i3 12100f, 2x8GB of RAM, an AEGIS 3200 MHz motherboard, an ASRock H610M-HDV power supply, an Evga 450W BR bronze case with a Samsung 980 SSD (500GB), and my current Crucial MX500 500GB GPU. I also plan to use an RTX 6600 or RTX 2060 Super depending on deals I find. If I can snag good prices around €230-280, I might reuse my old SSD. My case has decent airflow, so it should work fine.

For gaming, I mainly play Rust and Escape from Tarkov, which are CPU-intensive. I was looking for a solid single-core performance and found the i3 12100f to be a good fit. I also saw a Ryzen 5 5600 that pairs well with an A520, but it's €20 more. If I skip upgrading the CPU, I won’t need it because I don’t expect any major performance boost.

What do you all think about this build? Would you suggest any other options or tweaks?

I have identical CPU and the same memory choices. I chose the AsRock B660M Pro Rs at that price, around $90. I believe the extra cost for the B660 is justified since it offers two additional RAM slots for future upgrades.

The Samsung 980 SSD doesn’t fit this setup—it’s priced at $95 for 500GB while a WD SN570 1TB is available for $60. It does support PCIe3, but a budget PCIe4 SSD offers better value.

Choose a more affordable SSD—any budget NVMe works. Opt for the B660 model; avoid the Asrock H610. Pick any B660 variant except the HDV version.

In my country you can observe me residing in Croatia, where everything tends to be pricier. In my nation it's 130 euros for a B660M pro, whereas here it's 130 euros too—just different prices!
