I've been working hard to get the computer to display a boot device. It only posted twice, and each time I tried turning on the CMOS just to wait a few minutes before shutting it down. I've also cleared the CMOS multiple times but wasn't patient enough. My concern is what settings in UEFI should I adjust to make it show? The drive is a SATA SSD with an NVMe, which is connected but not recognized as a boot device. The NVMe isn't showing up either. I'm confident I can solve this, but with only two posts in an hour, any guidance would be greatly appreciated. 8600g, 1x16GB RAM, B650 gaming rig, plus WiFi.

Ensure the drives are formatted with GPT on another machine or a portable OS. For using an older Windows install without a full OS replacement, you must convert both MBR to GPT and legacy to UEFI. I faced the same issue on an 8500G build I was assembling for a friend. He insisted on using his original MBR drives, but they wouldn’t boot. When I enabled CSM on the 8500G, it would fail to post and required a CMOS reset before it worked again. After formatting and setting up GPT, I installed UEFI Windows and Linux successfully. From what I understood, the 8500G and 8600G chips don’t support legacy OSes, and they behave differently when CSM is turned on in BIOS.
