Hello everyone, I'm nearing the end of a lengthy struggle with my prime b550m-a mobo and trying to achieve full Gigabit performance. I use shaw fiber 1Gb and typically see download speeds between 600-950Mbps on speed tests with other machines. It only connects as a Fast Ethernet 100/100 Mbps link, regardless of settings. I've tried everything: changed cables (both cat5e and cat6), checked with another computer on the LAN and Wi-Fi (both showed full speeds using the same cables and ports), updated the BIOS flash driver, installed drivers from manufacturers' websites, and even ran a fresh Windows install forcing 1.0Gb negotiation. The service restarts but only connects at 100/100 Mbps. The Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller model 2 seems to be working fine on the network side. It appears the issue isn't with the network itself, as other devices connect and show a stable 1Gb connection. I've spent many hours browsing forums about this mobo and trying various fixes, which took around 30 minutes before I finally decided to buy a new one... maybe it's time to replace it? Thanks, Dusty

Ensure your Windows computer has all power-saving features disabled for the network card. Press Windows Key + R, type ncpa.cpl, select it, right-click and choose Properties, then click Configure. In the Advanced settings, disable any power-saving options. If this doesn’t resolve the issue or you prefer the newest drivers, download the latest ones directly from Realtek using the Win10 Auto Installation Program (NDIS). Note: The installer may take a while to download.

I completed this and didn’t notice any power savings throughout the system. I accessed the Asus site and it appeared to fully remove and reinstall the device drivers. I used the Realtek wizard, installed the newest driver (verified), and tried the one from their website, but couldn’t locate the driver support. Thank you for checking my link.

You've already identified the issue well, and while it might not be a permanent solution, it’s worth exploring further fixes. It seems like the problem could stem from something other than the Realtek NIC itself.

Checked in with the team again—no one’s helping. They’re only 100/100, so nothing changes. We were thinking about a PCIe 1x NIC, but my 3070 is hogging all the slot space. Got to call a shop and maybe switch things up if it’s really bad. Missed the USB 3.0 to RJ45 specs and ended up buying an adapter for $14. Gigabit done! Thanks for the support. Dusty
