It works well with a PCIE gen 4 chipset. Most systems feature 4.0 lanes on the GPU and 4.0 lanes on one or more M.2 storage devices. The X570 typically includes additional 4.0 lanes to support multiple drives.

I don’t expect anything top-of-the-line, so PCie 4.0 probably won’t make much difference. The B550 motherboard I’m considering is the Asus ROG B550-f. It looks decent, and I know their products well... Let me know if it’s not up to your standards.

B550 supports PCIe 4.0. X570 offers dual x8 PCIe slots and also uses a PCIe 4.0 chipset. I’d opt for a more affordable board and a 5800X or save around $50-80. The 5600X works well on $110 boards. The 5950X and ASUS B550-F or MSDB550 Tomahawk become viable investments.

That makes sense. I'm aiming for a balance to avoid overspending and waste. The 5950x is too expensive for me right now. Any suggestions for affordable motherboards? Also, I should note I only need up to six cores for gaming and don’t mind spending more on build quality—just save some cash.
