B550 support introduced right from the start for Ryzen 5000 processors.
we haven't determined it yet. you might consider a board with bios flashback support. otherwise, i believe amd will keep offering their free bios update package.
The agesa code update for Zen 3 is already available, so unless your board came with an outdated BIOS, it should function properly. If your board includes a flashback button, you can upgrade the BIOS without installing a CPU. Are you considering purchasing a board? What is its location and currency? Which power source will you use?
I've compared several options around that price range, aiming for a 5600x setup.
And currency or location? Just assuming USD. Here’s a concise version:
Looking at prices in USD, several motherboards are available. The ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A is priced around $189.49, while the MSI B550-A comes in at about $139.99. The Tomahawk model is also mentioned as a solid option, though details on its price aren't specified here. All listings include shipping, taxes, and discounts.
It's in AUD, but you might be overlooking a lot if you skip the X570.
the key distinction lies in how the lanes connect: b550 supports Gen 4 lanes for the CPU connections, while the chipset connections remain Gen 3 on x570. overall, x570 provides Gen 4 throughout the board, making it more suitable unless you specifically require the additional Gen 4 lanes.
