It's not that the $10 difference matters much for a $140 to $150 item, at least in my view. I prefer the look more. Since my PC is right next to me, I’ll always see it if it doesn’t match the style.

It's just a 5600x size. Could hitting 5GHz with the new board work? Or at least aiming for 4.8 is what I've been focusing on lately.

Do you need T-topology boards? They're uncommon these days because daisy chain is more affordable to produce.

5600X is a great CPU with straightforward control. 4600-4700 should work, while 4800 seems unlikely.

Running 4.75 on a 67 dollar motherboard with a budget VRM is typical. It's stable around 4.8 now, close to the new board. I got 4.9 on mine but it wasn't fully stable. I reached the lock screen at 5GHz and crashed right away. My chip seems capable, but the motherboard might be limiting performance.

That's interesting, but when I work with numbers, it's often stability testing. I tend to prefer Linpack Xtreme, especially the 10GB load, typically around 20-30 iterations. Running that program with those parameters and 4700 is close to the limit for me, but since it's a launch CPU, they might perform better now.

I mainly use Cinebench because Linpack seems too extreme for me; it doesn’t require such high stability. I prefer faster performance over maximum stability. Does Prime95’s FFT version work on your system? Or is Linpack the more challenging one? Also, I have a high-end PSU (EVGA 1000 T2) that could add more stability, though I haven’t noticed any improvement yet.

I believe they’re similar, I prefer Linpack since it measures CPU performance in GFlops. I also noticed you disabled SMT, which should help. My processor is a launch CPU—it can reach 4800 per core/thread under stable conditions, but I let it run at an extra 50MHz knowing it won’t be rock solid. It’s stable at 2000:1 and has hit 2133:1 before. Beyond that it’s fairly average. It’s been tested at 4900 across all cores for a few benchmarks, but that’s about it. It doesn’t handle that well.

If you use boosting or PBO enabled, higher frequency gains are possible if you choose to overclock. Most games don’t require 12 threads, so I’m not sure about that. I keep voltage under 1.4 while targeting 1.35–1.37V. At 1.35v it works well, but at 1.34v it struggles. On the new board I just got (B550 Extreme4), I expect better results at the same voltage due to improved power delivery, which should enhance stability and response.
