I received a new setup from my friend: Ryzen 5 5600X and Asus RTX 3050 Phoenix 8GB, along with the Intel Athlon 3000g. I’m still in my first year of an internship and don’t have the budget for a full upgrade yet. I’m curious if the R5 5600X will work well with my existing Gigabyte B450M DS3H, which is already running BIOS version F61. Also, I want to know if the new processor will cause any performance issues with the GPU, especially since it’s a 2GB RAM system. All specs are available.

The bios has been revised positively. The ds3h b450 supports up to 6 cores. Higher voltages cause excessive heat, so a 5600 would work better.

Hello! Yes, pairing that motherboard with a Ryzen 7 5700X could work, but make sure there’s enough cooling to handle the performance. A solid airflow is definitely important.

The board should function properly, though you might sacrifice some speed. Based on your usage, the difference may go unnoticed. This post originally discussed upgrading from a B450m-DS3H to a high-end setup. It used a 3700x, but I also tried a 5600x in the same board and it performed well during the short test. No formal benchmarking was done.

Thanks for the helpful feedback! The CPU and GPU are working well, but the 32GB RAM is limiting performance. The board chipset is slowing things down a bit, especially when running demanding games. I’ll keep this in mind for future upgrades. Appreciate the info!
