Hey there, Matt. I'm trying to refresh my 5-year-old PC with parts that should keep up for another 4 to 5 years. Right now I have an Intel i5 4570 CPU and an AMD RX 5700 GPU, which I got on sale a while back. I plan to upgrade my CPU later this year. I work as a graphic designer and photographer, so gaming is important too. I’m thinking about switching to the AMD Ryzen 5 3600, but I’m torn between a B450 and a B550 motherboard. From what I understand, the B550 offers PCIe 4 x16 and M.2 slots, plus support for Ryzen 4000 series chips that are coming soon. Since I’ve already picked my CPU and want something reliable, plus PCIe Gen 4 SSDs aren’t really worth it unless you’re handling big data tasks, why not go with B550? I’m considering downsizing to a mini-ITX, but if the B550 is worth it for longevity, I might need a mATX case. It would be tough if I can’t find a good, budget-friendly mATX setup.
