I'm looking for comparisons between B450 and B550 chipsets in terms of CPU and memory benchmarks. I want to know if the differences in internal design really affect performance in frame rate, SSD speed, or raw CPU power.

Modern chipsets have minimal impact on performance. The main distinction lies in the CPU's PCIe Gen 4 support, which only works with B550 chips. The GPU and top M.2 SSDs connect directly to the CPU, bypassing the chipset for faster data transfer.

The performance difference between B450 and B550 will be minimal except in scenarios where the chipset connection becomes heavily busy, which is unlikely.

No longer focusing on benchmarks because the variations are minimal. The B550 isn't expected to outperform older designs just due to internal improvements—it depends on the manufacturer's component choices. Generally, newer models should include updated electronics, though they don't always surpass older ones.

For someone just getting started, the SSD speed doesn’t really change much with Gen 4, and any current GPU won’t be too impacted by x16 Gen 3 unless the board is really weak. For the CPU, unless the chipset is bad and can’t handle it, it won’t matter much either.

Thanks for the feedback. It’s worth checking if the saturated chipset appears in any benchmarks. That would be quite insightful. I also read that even my budget Asrock B450M-HDV has solid VRMs, suggesting a B550 might not offer much extra benefit.
