The trace layout on the tomahawk isnt trash and the IMC is good enough to handle it. There is no reason why it wouldnt work at rated speed

I enjoy hearing that too. It's a solid mobile, though I initially considered the x570 Aorus Elite but didn't need PCIe 4.0. Then I found this B450 max mobile for a great price—reliable VRM and no annoying PCIe fan, just fine! Thanks!

It looks like I’ll get around 90% of my configuration tomorrow. I’ll still be missing the PSU (probably next week), but I’ll keep you posted on the 3600 RAM update. Thanks again and enjoy your weekend! Edit suggests the PSU is arriving today, just missing the CPU. ^^

if i had to put a number on it, it's probably a 95% chance that it'll work at cl16 3600, there are enough people with the tomahawk max and a r5 3600 to see that cl16 3600 sometimes just don't run. good luck.

Hello, thanks for the update. I’m planning to go with the 3700x and it should work fine, right? ^^ If I can’t handle 3600 MHz, I’ll switch to 3433, but it should still be okay. Also, this RAM set is usually around 166€, so I expect a better price of 200 or 220€.

It seems the IMC plays a key role, likely around 3600 or 3700. Running at that speed is rare but possible.

They mentioned those RAMs weren't listed, but that's okay. I'll make it tomorrow and keep you posted. I'll update the BIOS first—start with Windows 10, then the BIOS update, and check how it goes.

No that's a great set of memory sticks you purchased. Probably best in class at the rated speed. Very likely B-Die Samsung modules, whey will likely overclock to 3800mhz. If you have issues, Blame MSI's p.o.s. motherboard. Mine are F4-3600C-16-8GTZ 16-16-16 1800mhz (3600) at 1.350v. Run them with 2700x and a weaker IMC than the 3700x, so you should have an outstanding experience.
