Which CPU are you planning to use? A Ryzen 3000 might require a BIOS update. It could work with the Strix, though the Gigabyte board doesn’t offer strong VRM support despite its appearance. The Strix has some minor improvements elsewhere, such as onboard audio and Intel networking.
I noticed the launch critiques are underwhelming for both ASUS and Gigabtye.
Are Tomahawk MAX and MSI B450 Gaming Plus MAX available? BC MAX boards include Ryzen 3000 ready BIOS, which likely offers stronger CPU support for the 4th generation as well. The Steel Legend seems to offer poor value—though the microATX version performs well for its price. The GB and ASUS models are priced too high. I’d prefer MSI instead.
Your MOBO on Garbo Tier feels disappointing. The ASUS PRIME B450M-A isn't ideal for the third-gen Ryzen.
Consider reducing the CPU voltage a bit for testing. Or opt for a standard solution from MSI. : )
I haven't experimented with undervolting yet. I'm currently at 2400G and considering a switch to 3600G. Perhaps I'll start with a test run. Before diving into the standard process, I might try it first.
no need, just keep an eye on vrm temps, vrm under 100C is fine, just no crazy overclocks
I'll remember that point. It seems overclocking 3600 isn't necessary right now.
