Hey everyone, I'm trying to find the top value motherboard for my setup. My goal is to boost my R5 2600 to around 4.0ghz, which is what I managed with my older R5 1400—sometimes hitting 3.9ghz was stable, and even 4.1ghz for a short time (though it was shaky). My current MSI MORTAR B350 motherboard failed because it overheated, showing burn marks around the VRM. I'm looking for a new one this time, but I want some advice beforehand. I know I've pushed it hard, but I just need a solid board that can handle a bit of overclocking without breaking down. If it has RGB lighting, that would be nice too. Thanks in advance!
You were looking for a dedicated fan above the VRM to boost overclocks. A VRM heatsink would help, and the MSI B450 Gaming Plus microATX board seems like a solid choice.
VRM appears to have limited performance even though it looks appealing
I found a heatsink attached to the motherboard I owned. After it failed, I took it out because I wanted to check the extent of the damage. Appreciate the help! I’m currently considering your advice.
