b450 m.2 compatibility
b450 m.2 compatibility
Hi, your WD Black SN770 isn’t showing up in Windows or BIOS, which is unusual. It seems there might be a pin mismatch issue with the S-770 and the B450 Steel Legend from ASRock. You’ll likely need to return the drive. For compatibility, consider getting a different drive that matches the pin requirements of your motherboard. Let me know if you need more details!
yes it is compatible. The drive (or the slot) is likely bad if it's not showing up in windows/bios. there's also no "pin mismatch", NVME drive have standardized pinouts.
I possess an X99x motherboard from ASRock. The M.2 drive isn't showing up in BIOS where you think it should. Yet it shows in Disk Management on Windows. If the drive is brand new, you'll need to set a file system—probably NTFS—and create a partition before Explorer can access it. I'm uncertain about the unusual pin configuration. These drives are very common, and I own three of them. Honestly, if the manual claims they don't work due to pin mismatches, it's likely because the board isn't standard. I have the SN770, SN850, and 990pro models, all standard. The motherboard lists a PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 slot. Perhaps the issue is that the drives are Gen4, but some are labeled as Gen3? They should be compatible in both directions. I don't understand what ASRock means here.
Sure, I'm here to help. It sounds like your setup might have been a bit damaged. Thanks for letting me know!
Have you resolved the matter or did you end up with another solution? I’m still facing the same issue with the fatal1ty b450 gaming k4 motherboard and a wd sn770 drive. I’ve checked both m.2 slots, but it doesn’t appear in the BIOS. It’s possible this specific drive has a high DOA rate. I’m not sure if both RAM slots are faulty right away.
I own a B450 steel legend from ASROC and an SN7100 with 960 Evo. The 960 Evo appears in both slots while the SN7100 doesn’t show up in either. That indicates a compatibility issue...
