b450 i'm confused
Hello everyone, my name is Juan Pablo from Medellín, Colombia. My current setup includes a Ryzen 2600 Prime B350 with a 16GB RAM 3000 CL15 and an X570 processor with an RTX 580 graphics card. I'm considering upgrading my build and have two options in mind: the ASUS B450F or the MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max. I'm not sure which one would be better for a real upgrade, so I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks!
Request additional fan connectors, upgraded chipset, RGB-controlled CPU fan, and improved VRMs.
The chipset remains identical. You'll likely need splitters or fan hubs for serious airflow, but the Prime plus VRM works if you get enough ventilation.
My system uses a Ryzen 2700 on an X570 platform. It's likely the B550 chipset can handle a second-generation Ryzen processor as well.
This claim is incorrect. The B550 supports only Ryzen 3000+ processors. Any previous generations are not officially backed. It doesn't imply older CPUs won't function, but you should check each board's manufacturer list to confirm if pre-3000 support was included. AMD doesn't mandate this feature from makers.
