B450 compatible with Ryzen 5 3600 processor
i own two mid-range msi b450 tomahawk and asrock b450 steel legend models. the tomahawk seems stronger for power output, but i’m curious about its build quality. i’ve had issues with msi boards before—my 970 chipset am3+ system failed multiple times, ending up in rma and starting over. how does durability look now with msi? has it improved? my previous asrock ab350 pro4 motherboard is still performing well, but my r5 3600 struggles to reach 4.2 GHz and manual overclocking only gets me close to 4075 with high voltage, which isn’t ideal for regular use or hitting 4.1GHz++. what’s the difference between msi and asrock in terms of reliability? or are there other options worth considering?
I've relied on ASUS motherboards for many years without any problems. I recommend choosing an ASUS board.
These 970FX 4-phase VRM boards often fail under high-power CPUs, and even top brands like MSI still perform better.
From a hardware standpoint, this setup falls short compared to MSI or other Asus models such as the TUF Pro or B450-E
The FX 6300 with its standard configuration performs well compared to the ASRock Steel Legend in the long run.
