Hey everyone, I just upgraded my daughter's 4770k to a 3700x and am looking for a micro ATX board that fits her case. I ended up choosing the Asus B450 Prime-A. I haven't unpacked it yet but have some doubts about the VRM setup. Since she'll be running Noctua NH D15s, will this board work? Should I go back and try another micro ATX, or is there a better option? The market was really tight for micro ATX boards at the time due to the pandemic. Thanks for your advice!

Please return the item. It can't process an 8-core processor, let alone a 4-core one. Consider getting a mortar max or a pro 4-frame model instead.

They say ASUS' B450 boards weren't great, though their top models performed well. Are MSI's B450M Mortar Max available nearby?

With a sufficient budget for the B550, you'll find significantly more choices available.

It cost $78, which wasn’t cheap at all. It wasn’t just the cost; the actual shares were scarce. Every other micro ATX board was near $200. The B450 I picked was usually $140, but it was available for a wild discount.

You're also concerned about other factors besides inadequate VRM cooling, and you expect the issue to persist even after clocks are replaced.

The board won't manage an 8-core setup well. Try the mortar max—it's likely the top mATX b450 option.

x470 didn't come with any micro ATX options, yet I discovered an x570 micro ATX board at a reasonable cost, the Asrock X570M.

No availability of the x570M from Asrock. The Mortar Max costs $205 but isn't in stock. Meanwhile, the MSI Mag is available at https://www.newegg.com/msi-mag-b550m-mor...6813144327

I highlighted them based on content rather than cost or capabilities (like WiFi, ports, or RGB headers)
