Looking to buy a PC for my nephew in Canada where prices are tough to beat. X570 chips cost 100 more than B450 models. I’m not planning upgrades and prefer stock cooling. Is the B450 a poor choice? I’m considering a Ryzen 3600 and RTX 2060 setup (about 120 more than the max). Staying under a $1500 budget with taxes is challenging. Since NCIX isn’t available, Newegg has many third-party options and Amazon isn’t ideal, so I mostly rely on CanadianComputer. I’m aiming for a 1080p 144Hz gaming setup if that matters.

B450 works well for 3600, and some B450 boards outperform X570 boards. Look for the best tomahawk/mortar match.

The data comes to RAM, a 3200MHz CL16 appears to be ideal. Going up to 3600MHz or keeping it low (matching CL16 latency) seems favored by many, though I doubt it’ll make a big difference. I’d suggest 2x8GB if you go that route.

The top performance is significantly improved. Check the pro version, the VDH max, the mortar max, and the tomhawk max.

MATX didn't catch that mistake. It seems another model is the steel legend. It's a 3-stage, 4-phase power design (same as Pro 4) and it works okay. Edited June 14, 2020 by TofuHaroto
