Hey everyone, just wanted to clear things up. I'm using a B450 board from MSi—it works perfectly for everything I need. I've installed the latest BIOS updates and am wondering if adding a 3700x will cause any compatibility problems. I plan to upgrade to a 3700x, but I want to know if it would be worth it. My current setup is an 1660ti, which handles 1080p at 60Hz without issues. I'm thinking about moving up to a 5700x or even 1440p+ for better performance, especially with the monitor limitations. I've checked some benchmarks and think my system would run games better than the 2070. Could someone suggest good monitors for this upgrade? Thanks!

Nope. With a bios update yes. Which board ? Brand is t quality and it never was. If you satisfied with the current performance just wait for zen 3. Msi promised to support it with a beta bios on their 400 series Boards.

If your board's BIOS update highlights Matisse compatibility or the 3000 series, it should work with the 3700x. The impact really varies depending on the games you play—some might cause a CPU issue, others a GPU bottleneck. It always happens, but the extent of performance loss differs. For context, a 2600 remains quite solid.

That was fast! Thanks a lot! I've kept the latest bios (7C52v3x). I'm feeling good, but I'm considering upgrading to 1440p or higher and aiming for more than 120 hz someday.

It seems uncertain about the exact details, but it appears to be version 7C52v3x. I’m trying to stay positive and keep progressing forward.

This setup would reduce CPU load while shifting processing to the GPU. Even with potential bottlenecks, higher resolutions on the 2600 would help. Which board are you considering?

The BIOS displays the current version number, and the motherboard model is identified by the chipset and system information.

Sure, I understand. I’ll keep it up to date once I have more funds. Right now, stressing the GPU isn’t a big priority for me. It’s a B450-A Promax, and here’s the CPU-Z screenshot for reference.

Excellent condition board. Four 50A phases for the CPU and it can comfortably support an 8-core setup. My recommendation stays unchanged. If you're happy now and have time, please wait for Zen 3.

It doesn't appear in the system info during startup, yet CPU-Z shows a version of 3.62 from June 10, 2020 as shown in the screenshot.
