Around the midpoint of last month, popular YouTubers compiled their "Top Ten Games of 2015" lists, and one of my subscribers highlighted a title in theirs. I didn’t pay much attention, thinking it was just another Metroidvania with some Metroid elements, and most reviews came across as neutral. I wasn’t inclined to buy it, but my friend gave it to me on Christmas via Steam. I played it because it was something they had recommended, and it felt reasonable to give it a try. The game’s Metroid influence is evident, yet I enjoyed the experience. Completing the first four bosses was satisfying. At $20 on Steam without a sale, it might not feel like a good deal compared to the value you can get from gaming purchases. If you have funds available and are a fan of the original 2D Metroid titles, I’d suggest giving it a go—especially if there’s a new entry soon. I rate it an 8 out of 10.
