Hey there! I recently installed a new PC and took advantage of the M.2 WiFi slot on my motherboard. Since setting up an Ethernet cable isn’t practical, I went ahead and bought one. Everything seemed fine until recently when I was playing Minecraft online. Suddenly, my PC crashed without any error messages. After restarting, it refused to connect to WiFi at all, and the adapter disappeared from the Device Manager even after a fresh driver install. My system specs are: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X on an ASRock B550M Steel Legend GPU, ASUS Dual RTX 3070 V2 OC, G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB (4x8GB) at 3200MHz, Samsung 980 Pro 1TB drive, a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB 7200RPM PSU, Fractal Design Ion+ 660W WiFi card, Intel AX200 OS, and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit version 22H2. I think the issue might be because the adapter no longer shows up in Device Manager. Anyone have experience with this problem? Thanks!
It seems there might be some issues with Windows files after the shutdown. It’s possible they got corrupted. You should verify everything is functioning correctly. It seems the card stopped working, possibly due to a motherboard or PSU safety circuit activating. If reinserting it doesn’t fix things, file a return merchandise authorization and send it back. If you purchased it nearby, bring it to the store for testing—if it’s defective, they can replace it.
As suggested by someone else, reposition the card first. You might want to boot from a Linux USB drive (like Ubuntu) to verify detection. Linux doesn’t require a driver for this card. If it doesn’t work, the best way to confirm its status is to install it on another computer. Good luck!
I moved the card again and everything looks normal now. In the View hardware and connection properties, I saw it listed, though its status remained “Not Present.” This might mean the card wasn’t inserted correctly or could indicate it’s defective.
