Awe, Geez!
Hi everyone, newbie here. I recently swapped in a quieter CPU cooler and had to disassemble parts of my motherboard (ASRock B450M Pro4) before reassembling it. Since then, my DNS server isn’t working and my Ethernet connection is down. I’m using Windows 10 Home and have tried several fixes—changing cables, restarting, disabling the firewall, etc.—but nothing’s helped. I’m wondering if I missed a step while putting the board back together or if I accidentally damaged something during handling, which could explain the loss of connectivity. Also, the cooler seems just as noisy as the original, so I’m hoping this isn’t the issue. This experience has been a valuable lesson. Any advice from more experienced folks would be appreciated! Thanks!!
I disassembled the MB since I needed to attach a backplate on the rear side to secure the heat sink.
This shouldn't be required unless you're dealing with a severely flawed situation lacking a cutout on the motherboard tray.
