This problem has persisted over the last couple of months, and I’m not sure which part is responsible. The flicker appears only in games, not on my desktop or during video playback. It’s more noticeable in less demanding titles like The Binding of Isaac, where it can occur up to twice every five minutes, but also shows up on the menu screen for Overwatch. Since it seems tied to the application, I suspect the graphics card (Asus Strix RTX 2070 OC) might be the culprit. I sent it in for repair under warranty, but it was returned with the note that the issue couldn’t be found after thorough testing. I also tried reinstalling the drivers via DDU, but nothing changed. The problem disappeared when using my internal graphics (6700k) at full 240Hz, though the monitor only supported 144Hz. This limits bandwidth and makes me think the display cable or port could be involved. If you have more insight, please let me know which component is likely causing this and any suggestions for a fix.

I've tested a different cable (Club3d suggested one for HBR3 in the Displays area), but it hasn't improved anything.
I've observed the problem mainly occurs with 60fps clips, which suggests g-sync might be the culprit. The Binding of Isaac and Overwatch menus are also limited to 60 frames. I disabled g-sync in the NVIDIA control panel and haven't seen the issue in three days, indicating it's likely related to the g-sync module itself. I'm still not sure if the issue lies with the monitor's g-sync driver or my GPU, as I don't fully understand how each component functions.
Thread Resurrection! My Alienware AW2723DF is FreeSync Premium Pro certified and I’m facing the same issue myself. Turning off GSYNC seems to fix it, though it’s a bit frustrating. It mainly works for games above 60 FPS, like Escape from Tarkov or World of Warcraft Classic. Have you tried other fixes? I’m considering getting a Dell replacement.
I'm facing the same problem too, but with the AW2721D similar to OP. The only solution I've found is setting the refresh rate to 200 Hz or completely disabling VRR. It's not a permanent fix, but this is the third AW2721D I've dealt with, and I'm not interested in risking another refurb that could cause more issues. I'll likely replace it soon instead of dealing with it further. It's worth noting you're experiencing this issue with the non-gsync ultimate version, which might point to a panel-related problem rather than a gsync module issue in the AW2721D model. I've heard from someone else on another site that adjusting the minimum VRR range to 40 Hz with CRU resolved their issue, though it doesn't seem to work with Nvidia cards. Regardless of what you change, the monitor keeps using a 1 to 240 Hz range, which might be acceptable for your AW2723DF, but FreeSync should ideally have a minimum of 48 Hz. Probably the best option is to return it and hope for a positive outcome. Hello once more, I got a replacement from Dell and the monitor is experiencing the same issue, though it looks slightly different (variations in color flicker or size) on the new one, like the middle two-thirds turning blue. The problem occurs across several machines with different hardware. I’ve tried various display cables and other solutions.
I've experienced three Dell replacements, all facing the same problems. The trouble arises when G-Sync is active and the screen exceeds 60Hz (120hz, 144hz, 240hz, 250hz, 260hz, 280hz). Turning off G-Sync at any refresh rate doesn't resolve the issue. It consistently occurs in most games—especially Escape from Tarkov and World of Warcraft, which consume a lot of time. I've tried removing the Nvidia drivers completely and reinstalling, updating Windows 11 firmware, changing HDR settings, using different cables, and even switching computers. I used the included DisplayPort cable, a CableMatters version, and disabled DSC, which might have helped. I've shared multiple log files with Dell, but they say the monitor is fine unless compatibility issues exist. Their claim is that if the problem persists, it's due to the monitor not being fully compatible with the custom setup.
