Afternoon All hope you're well, Bit of a broad question but curious if anyone can shed any light on matter. I started working from home so same desk because work desk and due to outdated hardware and frankly limited good games out atm I have played gametime in the last 6 months then maybe last 10 years combined. That being said by PC was off without being used at all for sometimes a month or more but now when finally try come back to play the last few times its un-usable its a potato. Was outdate hardware for sure GtX970 i5 4690k @ 3.5gz 16GB of DDR3 @ 1600Mhz I mean its a solid 30 seconds from desktop to chrome opening. Understand there will be some updates IE Geforce xp and windows but let do its thing and still holy hell its slow. Its as if Apple turned up and started their hardware limiting crap on something that worked fine just a few months back. Am I missing anything obvious is there something I should be looking for?

Launch Task Manager after a complete restart and observe its activity. It’s likely that all background programs are attempting to look for updates at the same time.

It's likely the system is silently updating patches in the background. Performance shouldn't change whether it's connected or not, I bet.

It was my idea, but even after spending half an hour, it remained slow and unresponsive. Checking Task Manager didn’t show any heavy CPU usage.

Attempting to utilize the Windows search causes significant slowdowns, suggesting the operating system is heavily compromised. It seems the storage drive responsible for the OS might be failing, though this would likely result in complete failure rather than just reduced speed.

It seems like your Windows 10 installation is running at full capacity, possibly struggling with performance. Trying a fresh reinstall might resolve the issue.

I chose Amazon as my last option, but the key page feels like a £10 area and doesn’t load properly now. It’s hard to find or re-register it, even though I’m not sure what’s causing the issue.
