Your computer stopped working and you tried a reboot, but now it needs a BitLocker key which you don’t have. Can you avoid losing everything without wiping the drive? You could connect the SSD to your main computer if that helps. Even though losing data isn’t ideal, having everything in OneDrive is better than dealing with a full reinstall.

You may place it on your desktop, but it will prompt you to provide the recovery key. If you lack it all, you can erase the data.

When you created your computer, Microsoft provided a BitLocker recovery page to retrieve the necessary key. If you haven’t used it and don’t have the key, you’ll need to erase the drive and reinstall the system.

I resolved the issue by turning on secure boot. It wasn't clear what the benefit was, but I'll give it a try next time. No key available, but I'm planning to obtain one. Thanks!

Adjusting boot configurations and having a TPM active may cause BIOS to reset, altering the boot settings. It’s likely your BIOS will revert to a previous state. You can retrieve the recovery key by right-clicking the drive and selecting "manage BitLocker."
