According to what I understand, there’s no method to conceal hidden networks. These are simply Wi-Fi access points or routers that don’t broadcast their network name, serving as an additional security measure. You should just disregard them.

You don’t switch them off. You discover where the secret networks are being sent and you contact the people running those networks to either label them or disable them. Hidden SSIDs actually break the 802.11 rulebook, yet they’re not against the law, so that’s your main choice.

They're joking about it, but hiding the SSID doesn't really help. I'd suggest going all out with it.

Everyone would advise you to leave if you showed up uninvited. The rule only matters when trying to block a device from connecting to a non-broadcast network. They can conceal it however they like. Asking for the network name is even more of an intrusion.
