Hi there! I just set up a Google Business account and was amazed to receive my first customer from home for my computer repair service. I’d like to double-check the details I’ve gathered so far. Could you confirm if everything I’ve noted about the PC is accurate? Please include the model name, specs, what steps I’ve taken, and my final thoughts. Any extra tips would be really helpful. Thanks!
CMOS battery is inexpensive and simple to swap, definitely a straightforward choice. A repair shop should stock VGA and DVI cables plus monitors. Also consider a low-power functional GPU such as GT710 and a PS/2 keyboard. Get comfortable with Linux, especially the Sysrescuecd distribution. https://www.system-rescue.org/
Thanks for the guidance. I'll try the sysrescue cd now. My usual tools include Medicat USB, Hard disk sentinel, Burn in test, and other benchmarking programs. I wasn't expecting these at all when setting up the business profile, and I didn’t advertise them, so I wasn’t ready. I have most of the equipment—multimeter, toolkit with all screws, laptop back panel remover, etc.—but I’m missing a power supply tester and a RAM tester tool, which are costly. I also didn’t realize some motherboards don’t have VGA cables (I have plenty). The computer doesn’t even POST, so using Sysrescuecd won’t help. Should I order replacement RAM and the CMOS battery to see if that resolves it? I can always return the RAM if it doesn’t fix the issue.
